There are two fundamental ways that we are able to impact our animal’s quality of life and the kind of relationships that we share with them.

Firstly, our knowledge and understanding of their physical, mental and emotional needs. The more we are empowered with information in these areas the more we are able to make decisions and take actions that benefit and protect them.

from a deeper, holistic level so you can work with the concepts and principles behind their needs.

Once you have this understanding, you are then able to apply it to any situation and make more educated and positive decisions on your animal’s behalf.

Secondly, we have an enormous impact on our animals through our own mental and emotional states.

Our emotions are constantly influencing and transferring to the animals around us.

This impacts not only their mental and emotional health and happiness but their physical bodies as well.

This may feel like a daunting responsibility if we are not well connected and practised at working with our bodies and emotions.

However, if we are willing to put the time and effort into gaining self-awareness and tools and skills to care for our minds and emotions then it becomes extremely empowering how much we are able to connect to and deepen our impact with the animals that we love.

IMPORTANT LEGISLATION

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons classes Reiki in the same category as Faith Healing/Spiritual Healing and therefore  Reiki is not classed as a complementary therapy. Complementary therapies may only be given to animals by vets.

The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving of advice on such diagnosis. However, the healing of animals by contact healing, by the laying on of hands or distant healing is legal. However, the Protection of Animals Act 1911 requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this. Therefore, before treating animals it is advisable to seek assurance from the owner that the animal has been examined by a vet who is content for Reiki healing to be given. To give emergency First Aid to animals for the purpose of saving life or relieving pain is permissable under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3.
